Yeah this is really sweet. I'm excited about the extended week too, which they lined up right before the PTQs start. I did want to mention, 2-mans won't be discounted, or at least they weren't mentioned in the post on wizards.com. They've had a lot of collusion problems with 2-mans even when packs were selling for 4.25 tix and such, so it would make sense if those weren't discounted. Still, 8-mans and DEs should get a huge boost by this & if a PE actually fires, that would be amazing.

So we can all plan better...  here is the Daily Event schedule for the week....

We should also plan some 8mans as 3 tix is a really great deal, 24 tix in, 12 packs out that is 2 tix a pack! (Heck we could even do some weird gentleman's agreement where the winner of the first round gives a pack to the loser so everyone comes out ahead)

This topic is too important to be a normal topic, so I stickied it.

I'm also going to add it into the news on the front page.  I want to see some queues fire!  If 10 tix wasn't your thing, then you have no reason no to play for half that.

Someone could make a big move into a prize spot on the POTY standings.

Remember - there are prizes all the way to 8th place for this year.

I'll be there as much as I can.

I've updated Calavera 1st post with all the times and I'm bumping this.

Great time to pick up some POTY points - you could possibly move up an awful lot into a prize spot.

Are 2-mans included now too?  Also, this may be the only thing saving Oath from beign a 40+ tix card: EEE drafts will continue during this time!

Please use this thread to discuss the 1/2 Constructed, as it has all the dates and times for DEs and PEs listed in the first post.

If Exodus Drafts come back sure, otherwise... no one likes worth - and pointless packs.

Without classic drafts, the packs are worthless. I did a 2man and won to receive a pack that's worth less than the entry fee.

WotC REALLY needs to drop classic packs to $3 in the store, or continue the half-off entry fees. Truth is, Classic is not competitive because there is no worthy prize to be won.  When the prizes award packs that are worth less than 3 tickets and at the same time, do not turn on drafting outlet for those packs, the format will stagnate again and again.

The worthy prize is the play, young Skywalker

got to disagree. there is almost 0 reason to pay money to play in a tournament that pays out packs that are worth so little, and then on top of that there is no draft format to actually use your packs. bots arnt buying exodus and if the tse ques remain down then soon they wont buy tempest or stronghold. the ONLY reason to play right now is poy, but then again most people have no idea its going on. if wotc dosent put drafts back up why on earth would people play classic events? you pay 6 tix to crack 6-11 packs? that pretty retarted and almost all of the time the contents of those packs will not be worth 6 tix.

wotc really needs to get their stuff together if they want to facilate a healthy format. with out qp points how can they expect a group of people to PAY for an experience that has no reward when the tp room is free?

whiffy, this may come as a shock to you so please sit down.
Are you sitting? Ok, good.

I don't play with the expectation to win. I don't choose events based on EV either.
I play Classic because I enjoy the format.

I realize that for the 'hardcore' tourney players it's almost exclusively about ROI but not everyone who plays fits that demographic.

@Tempesteye:

I appreciate the casual perspective that you bring regarding Classic. From this standpoint, the format is heavily and thriving. (quick check in the casual room reveals tons of Classic games).

The problem remains however, that Classic is viewed as a core format for MTGO. This means tournament sanctioning by MTGO Organized Play, and this means that there are prizes on the line. While yes, it is true that playing Classic can be rewarding intrinsically, the majority of players that come to the Classic tournaments (myself included) come for the smaller crowds and deeper card pools. Whiffy stated it best, you can play the best cards in the whole game. Yet, even with the core format sanctioning that MTGO gives Classic, the format is seen as hard to get into, stagnant, and combo-licious.  Some may even argue that this is true of Standard and Extended as well, but what remains is that there are droves of people rushing to play Standard for the healthy support the format enjoys in the draft room.

Perhaps this whole dilemma regarding tournaments is merely an exercise in economics, but as it stands today - Classic tournaments are not worth the time nor fee to play.

I just talked to Mike Gills who says TSE drafts will be put back up shortly.

So that part will at least be fixed
