I've been the classicquarter naming editor for the decklists for a year now.  I think I've done a decent job, but it really doesn't matter, as I've decided to give up the job, as I have too much on my plate and the events are coming in fast and furious.  The site will now need a new editor - Danger may be retaking over this duty, or he may allow interested parties to post in this thread petitioning for the job; that's his prerogative, of course.  Danger, thanks for giving me the opportunity, and I hoped it helped a little.  Bazaar of Baghdad

Helped a lot. Thanks for everything, BoB

As BoB said, the job is open for the taking.

Does it pay?  Not really.  I do give 10% of whatever anyone donates to the site (in tickets at a 1;1 ratio of paypal dollars).  So there's no guarantee... pretty sure BoB got 3 payouts from that.

Danger uploads the placing decks onto his server.  You log in to a specially designated portion of the site and replace the words "Bazaar of Baghdad's deck" to "Zoo" or whathaveyou (after seeing the list based on the provided link).  That's the minimum, and as you can see, a lot fo decks are being added each week these days.

I try to ensure correct spelling since a good database depends on that, and uniformity of style.  I've been using the convention of "Archetype - Subtype".  This gets in more search terms, and Danger and I have worked out a system where his POY archetype stats groups everything before the hyphen.  So for two Pox decks "Pox - BG Bloodghast" and "Pox - MonoBlack Rack" work better than "BG Pox" and "Rackapox"; the first method groups the decks together, the second one leaves them completely independent statwise.  I try to be descriptive as possible.  Like "UG* Control - CounterTop Landstill" getting in as many engines as possible.  The * in the last example is useful as it allows you to group decks together, as otherwise you might have UGw, UGb, UGr, UGWb, UGwb, etc.  If a name is popular but not descriptive, I'll usually keep it.  I kept 'Baseruption' since that is the name of the legacy deck that would otherwise be hard to name, but for Team America, I went with "UBG Control - TeamAmerica" so it could be grouped with a few other UBG Control decks we have on file but still have TeamAmerica as a search term.  I went with Merfolk for a long time, but recently have added things like "Merfolk - Black Splash" "Merfolk - Goyf Splash" and "Merfolk - Black, Goyf Splash" since they are relatively prominent now.  I haven't done much Oath categorizing yet, since a default decklist has not yet coalesced.

You also have the power to change the type of deck from "Aggro" to "Combo" etc. but Danger does that himself, and I rarely change that anymore; still in the interest of consistency make sure you don't change some of one archetype, but leave, say, the January ones unchanged.

Anyways, the main point is that someone who is timely, very systematic, willing to do a bit of research (for example, deckcheck.net), and careful with details will do a good job.

I fit the qualifications exactly except for the fact that I have no interest in doing it.
Odissey was themed with with threshold and Mudhole gave red access to an hability that fitted thematically and normally isn't on it's pie, that's why it's rare.

Well, I'm very systematic and enjoy to research databases. You should see my iTunes with more than 1300 albums perfectly tagged.

Dangerlinto, I can do it. Smile

I agree that having a sort of team doing it would be fine (from my end).  As long as we're all pretty much low ego (as in, not: deck X must be named Y, or else!), I wouldn't mind helping out and being helped out in turn by a couple of other people.

I can help then.
Restricting cards restricts creativity. Restrict as little as possible.

I thought about it, and I realistically, I like the consistency and unproblematic approach that having a single person doing this brings.   I agree there are benefits to doing a team approach, but for now I think there are more benefits with a single person.

So since exprey spoke up first, the job will fall to him

Thanks for replying to the thread, Danger - I was about to ask you to do so.  I think the course you're adopting seems wisest.  Hopefully, it works.
